Retrieving your POP
eMails through the web, e.g: Hotmail
Here is how you can setup your web based
email account so you can access your POP account emails
while on the road.
Most web based email services, like hotmail (msn.com) are
offered free of charge.
1) Go to www.msn.com.
When you get there, click on HOTMAIL.
2) Set up an email account at HOTMAIL.COM (eg:
bob@hotmail.com and select your Hotmail password (atleast
8 characters)
3) Once the account is setup (which is usually
immediate), log back into your Hotmail account and click
on Options (right under where your email address shows)
4) Click on POP Mail (under Additional Options) and setup
your 1st POP Account at HOTMAIL.com. This means emails
coming to your business or usual POP mailbox will also be
available to you via HOTMAIL.
5) Enter your usual POP email information here:
POP Server Name: YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME.COM
POP User Name: your-domain-name#
POP User Password: xxxxxxxxxxx (put your usual
mailbox password).
6) Leave the next 2 boxes the way they are and go down to
the two small check boxes at the bottom of this section.
Click on both boxes to: (a) Leave messages on POP server
& (b) Download new messages only. (If you do not want
to leave any messages on your usual mailbox once they are
downloaded to HOTMAIL, then do not click in the first
box)
7) To setup another POP Account, follow the steps above.
When finished, go to the bottom of the page and click OK.
You can then logout from Hotmail. You are now set to
receive your emails from any browser from anywhere you
have access to the internet.
8) To get your emails while on the road, simply go to: www.msn.com and on the
right hand side of the front-page, enter your Hotmail
login name and your hotmail password and click Go. You
will find your personal page again and your messages. You
may, sometimes, have to click on the POPMail link on the
left hand side of your personal page to download messages
waiting at your mailbox.
The steps above may not be exact but do not hesitate to
call us if you have problems finding your way around
setting up your webmail account.
